Supporting Independent Genre Filmmakers

Western. Action. Sci-Fi. Horror.

Our Mission

To provide independent filmmakers with the technical resources, professional mentorship, and financial support necessary to turn their visions into cinematic reality. We bridge the gap between imagination and execution by ensuring that creativity is never silenced by a lack of capital. At the Alson Holland Foundation, we believe that your budget should never define your brilliance.

Our Vision

We envision a world where the film industry is a true meritocracy—where the silver screen reflects the full diversity of the human experience. Our goal is to dismantle the systemic and financial barriers to entry, creating a global landscape where every storyteller, regardless of their background or bank account, has an equal opportunity to share their truth with the world.

Who We Are

The Alson Holland Foundation for the Arts (the “Nonprofit”) was organized for charitable and educational purposes to support emerging or underrepresented filmmakers and artists on a global scale. The Foundation provides funding, distribution opportunities, and resources to discover and promote new talent. The organization focuses on inclusivity and accessibility, offering mentorship, education, and networking opportunities to foster culture, community growth, and increased connectivity.

Supporting emerging or underrepresented filmmakers and artists is vital to fostering a rich, dynamic, and inclusive society that values creativity and innovation. New artists bring fresh perspectives and unique stories, often introducing innovative approaches that challenge conventional norms and lead to groundbreaking work that can inspire future generations. By providing resources and education, the Foundation helps promote greater equity in the arts by validating diverse identities and experiences, creating opportunities for community engagement, and contributing to educational initiatives. Art and film often reflect societal issues and change; therefore, supporting new talent encourages the exploration of contemporary themes that resonate with audiences and facilitate meaningful conversations.

The Nonprofit is further organized to encourage, uplift, and empower underfunded or struggling artists to express themselves creatively. It provides a platform for artists dedicated to cultivating positive cultural influence and building community through their work. The Foundation’s goal is to fund festivals, projects, workshops, and showcases that discover new talent and support artists who struggle to obtain resources or access opportunities. Its services include providing grants and funding as needed, mentorship and networking opportunities, access to equipment, and assistance with the distribution and promotion of completed projects.

The Nonprofit is structured as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the arts and education in the film industry, promotes appreciation for diverse forms of cultural expression, connects individuals to their creative potential, stimulates interest in the arts, and fosters broader acceptance and appreciation of artistic works as a whole.

Alexander Raye Pimentel

"It’s a generation of filmmakers who no longer need permission to matter. Microbudget film isn’t “less than.” It’s becoming the proving ground for the next wave of real cinema."
